This qualification is fully recognised for MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) contractor status and the prestigious ‘Electrician Plus’ kitemark. The content directly supports the transition to net zero, empowering you to deliver safe, compliant small-scale embedded generation to domestic, commercial, and industrial clients.

Course Outline

What you will learn:

  • MCS Standards – Full alignment with current MCS requirements for design, installation, and commissioning
  • Grid-connected solar PV systems – System types, applications, and design
  • Electrical safety and compliance – IET Code of Practice and statutory guidance
  • AC and DC fundamentals – Cables, protective devices, and earthing for solar PV systems
  • System design – Sizing and selection of components, shading, orientation, and yield calculations
  • Inspection, testing, and commissioning – Safe isolation, functional testing, certification, and handover
  • PEI (Prosumer’s Low Voltage Electrical Installations) – Connection, operation, and regulatory compliance
  • Documentation and reporting – MCS-compliant certification and customer handover packs

Eligibility & Entry Requirements

  • Level 3 Electrotechnical NVQ or JIB Gold Card
  • Qualified to the latest BS:7671 Wiring Regulations (18th Edition)
  • Competent in literacy and numeracy
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
