Design and Verification of Electrical Installations

This course is for anyone already working in the electrotechnical sector looking for opportunities to further their career.
The course will provide an understanding of the concepts, processes and practices involved with the design, construction management and the initial verification of electrical installations. The emphasis is on the safe and ergonomic design of an installation to make sure it complies with relevant statutes, regulations, industry standards and sound engineering practices.
Course Content
The course will cover the following topics:
- Relevant statutory and non-statutory requirements
- Electrical installation design
- BS 7671
- Design and verification procedures
- Associated protective systems
- Aspects of environmental technologies
Delivery
This course is classroom, workplace or on-line based. You will be assessed with a graded knowledge-based assignment as well as completing a simulated design project. You will be supported by your tutor for the duration of the course.
Duration
5 consecutive days in the classroom followed by up to 18 months to complete the project.
Eligibility
This course is for those who are working in the industry and have completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship or hold other qualifications covering inspection and testing.
You must hold a qualification to the current wiring regulations.
It is recommended to hold a recognised level 3 inspection & testing qualification.
Learners must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Proficiency in literacy and numeracy.
