- No need to be a qualified electrician; suitable for those with basic electrical understanding.
Course Outline
What you will learn:
- Principles and practical skills for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment
- How construction and classification of equipment minimises electric shock risk
- Understanding the statutory and non-statutory regulations
- Essential electrical units and measurement techniques for in-service inspection and testing
- Step-by-step procedures for carrying out PAT testing, including documentation and record-keeping
- Practical, hands-on inspection and testing exercises
- Safe isolation, combined inspection, and comprehensive reporting
Requirements
Eligibility & Entry Requirements
- 16 years of age or older
- Proficient in literacy and numeracy
- Basic electrical knowledge is beneficial but not essential

- IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment, 5th Edition
Learners are required to bring their own up-to-date reference books as listed above. These are not provided as part of the course.
