AM2 Preparation

Don’t let the AM2 assessment catch you out…

This course is a preparation course designed to give you the knowledge of what the AM2/AM2e/AM2s entails and what to expect on the day. This course is offered over a 2 day period.

The AM2 is the final test you will need to gain your JIB Gold Card. More recently the AM2S has been developed as an end-point assessment for the new Electrical Installation Trailblazer Apprenticeship standard.

Our recommendation is that you undertake the AM2 preparation course as close to the actual date of your AM2 as possible.

Course Content

This course covers the following:

• What to expect on-the-day.
• The various assessment sections and what is to be required of candidates.
• The process in which the assessments are conducted.
• Hints, tips and common mistakes.
• Revision on risk assessments.
• Revision on the safe isolation of single phase circuits, 3-phase circuits and 3-phase installations.
• Revision on the interpretation of wiring diagrams.
• Revision on 2-way & intermediate wiring, DOL starter terminations, S-plan heating, SWA & SY glanding, 3 phase circuits, main protective bonding, safety circuits & cat5 terminations.
• Revision on containment fabrication.
• Revision on inspection, testing & certification.
• Revision on fault finding.
• Revision on BS 7671.

This course is classroom-based. 

Eligibility

This course is for those who have passed various electrical technical certificates or NVQ and are preparing to undertake the AM2.

It is expected that you will have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy (ideally to Level 2).

Learners must be at least 18 years of age.
