Delivery
This qualification is completed through portfolio of evidence acquired whilst working supported by an assessor.
The NVQ is a learner-led qualification that doesn’t involve any classroom learning. We do offer additional classroom learning for those that are interested.
There are 2 components to the NVQ:
Understanding & Knowledge: we have to confirm that you already have the knowledge to satisfy the criteria of the NVQ. We do this by using question banks, professional discussion and witness testimonies.
Performance: we then prove you are able to use the knowledge effectively by undertaking observations, looking for product evidence (these would be day-to-day tasks that you already do, which satisfy the criteria).
All of evidence is ‘mapped’ or reference to the specification set out by the awarding body and supported and guided by the assessor. It is the assessor’s job to ultimately assess you and to ensure that the knowledge and performance you undertake meets the requirements.
Once this is done, the portfolio is submitted to an Internal Quality Auditor to validate that the evidence and NVQ has been completed correctly.
At this point, we apply to the awarding body for certification. They may or may not request to see the portfolio. If they do, an External Quality Audit is done on the portfolio.
The length of time to complete the NVQ is very much dependant on how much time you put into it. If you work with the assessor and are able to provide the product evidence and meet for the observations, then a suggest time of 9-18 months would see you to completion/achievement.
Additional classroom learning. This would happen remotely using Zoom or Team and led by Graham Kett on a 1:1 basis. This would happen at times that are convenient to both of you. The cost for this is in addition to the tat of the NVQ. As discussed, this isn’t to aid completion of the NVQ, but rather is to provide a foundation to support the knowledge and performance.
Please note we limit the maximum duration for the NVQ to 24 months.
